The family of Mary Ellen would like to invite you to enjoy a time of fellowship at Randy’s house following the interment.
Mary Ellen Johnstone loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in Red Deer, Alberta on September 1st, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born on July 30, 1938 in Red Deer to Ellis & Hellen Johnstone.
Mary Ellen grew up in Red Deer and spent most of her life in the city of Red Deer, Red Deer County and Sylvan Lake. As an adult she attended the University of Alberta and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts and with a Bachelor of Education. She worked as an elementary school teacher in the city of Red Deer for over 30 years.
Mary Ellen was known for her warmth, strength, humor, generosity, and faith. She found joy in church and community but especially loved hosting family dinners and spending time with family during special events and the holidays. She loved music therefore singing and dancing was among her favorite pastimes. Her adoration to her pets as well as all the animals around the farm through the years was easy to recognize. Those who knew her will remember her vivid fun fashion sense, her happy positive spirit and her strong faith in God.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ellis and Hellen Johnstone and her brothers Bob and Alvin Johnstone.
She is survived by her son Randy Daniels, her grandchildren Felesha Shamber (Scott), Tania Campbell (Scott), Alicia Seeger, Natasha Seeger and Zachary Daniels and her great grandchildren Jacob, Abbey and Payton.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 12th and 1:00pm at the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home. A reception after the burial will be held at 23 Ravenscrag Crescent in Norglenwold, Sylvan Lake.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
