Sylvan Lake Funeral Home has been serving the families of Central Alberta from the same location in picturesque Sylvan Lake for more than 80 years.
Over many years, Sylvan Lake Funeral Home has seen several different owners: the Duffields, the Buchanans and the Flinn family since 1985.
Ed Stevenson has been the manager since 1987 when he moved to Alberta with his family from Newfoundland. Ed is married to Heather and has two sons David and Michael and two grandchildren.
Ed has been active in the community since arriving in Sylvan Lake, serving on several boards such as the Canadian Red Cross, The Royal Canadian Legion- Sylvan Lake Branch and the Sylvan Lake Community Partners Association. He is always regarded highly for his knowledge on the projects he takes interest in.
We see, hear and understand your grief and we care about helping you through a very painful time
John Flinn assists around the funeral home and cemetery set-ups. He is the son of owners Diane & Gordon. In John’s free time, he loves coaching Pee Wee Football with the Sylvan Lake Bears and going out camping/ hiking in the west country.
For those who wishing a non-religious service, we have a trained celebrant, Laurie Wade, on staff to meet this need.
Jim is a retired RCMP Officer, helps with transfers and as a funeral attendant when needed.
Our family is committed to caring for your family regardless of race or religion. We provide attentive, compassionate service from the first phone call until long after the funeral is over.
We will help you plan a service, assist you with the many choices and provide support for you and your loved ones in your time of grief. We know every family is unique, and we strive to help you make each service a personal tribute.
