It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Alves Lima announce his passing on October 5, 2025 in Sylvan Lake Alberta at 59 years old.
David was born in Edmonton in 1966 to Vincent and Maria Lima. He was one of 12 children in a large family.
His restaurant career began with Maxwell Taylors on Calgary Trail. He quickly made a name for himself and became the manager of the Jasper Ave. location in Edmonton. This was a journey that meant a lot to David and was the center of many stories. Later, David moved on to the Luciano’s chain in Calgary and was part-owner of the Red Deer location. He also became the kitchen manager of Guliver’s Restaurant in Red Deer. David came to be the proprietor of a successful and well-loved restaurant in Sylvan Lake known as Fireside Restaurant and Lounge. David welcomed countless friends, always ready with a smile, a joke, a dance move or a song to sing. He spent 17 years contributing to the community through the Fireside brand. On top of his restaurant experience, David spent many years with Trican as a coil supervisor.
Outside the restaurant hustle, David enjoyed sitting around a cozy campfire, singing his favorite tunes and telling tales. He also loved to travel, being all over Europe and hot destinations. Of course cheering on his beloved Edmonton Oilers was a favorite pastime.
David leaves to mourn his siblings Vincent, Paul, Herc, Beveinda, Joe, Len, Wally, Lorraine, and Jeff. His former spouse Donna and her daughter Ricki. Also many nephews, nieces; and others who were special to Dave.
He was predeceased by his mother and father Maria and Vincent Lima; brother Angelo Lima; and sister Mary Lima.
A Celebration of Life for David will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #212, Sylvan Lake, Alberta.

Janet and I are so sorry to hear about Dave's passing.
He was the brother of my friend Wally and what I think of most when I think of Dave is his smile and his laugh. We didn't see him very often, but when we did, he was always genuinely happy to see us...as were we to see him.
Our condolences to the whole Lima Clan.
BRIAN BOSCHEE:
Sincere condolences to Donna , Ricki, family and the Fireside staff. I have so many fond memories of Dave, we used to talk ( argue) about hockey, played lots of pool ( he usually won) and of course have a few beers together. I will miss him!
Jason Swainson:
I always enjoyed my time spent with Dave, especially His character, humour, karaoke skills and bonus best pizza in Sylvan!
I miss Him dearly and will never forget Him.
My condolences to Donna and all of the family and staff at Fireside.
