Marion “Wendy” Ann Haugan (Jervis) passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, August 7, 2026. Wendy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 24, 1960. After being courageously put up for adoption by her birth mother, at 19 days old on Friday, May 13th, she was adopted by Rea and Juanita Jervis.
Wendy was a welcome addition to the family, joining older brothers Greg and Jack, and later, her younger sister, Lynda. The family moved to Edmonton in 1969, and Wendy finished high school there in 1978. In 1979 she attended Canadian Bible College where she met Kevin Haugan, and they were married in November of 1980. They welcomed their first son Ryan in 1982 and their second son Daryl in 1986.
Over the years, Wendy and Kevin lived in Edmonton, Regina, Sherwood Park, Regina again, Cold Lake, and finally settled for good in Sylvan Lake in 1998. Kevin pastored several Alliance churches during that time.
Wendy was known for her incredible musical ability. She played flute, sang, and directed church and school choirs on many occasions. She also worked as an Educational Assistant in schools in Cold Lake and Sylvan Lake for a number of years.
Wendy’s health became problematic in the last two decades. Chronic pain from kidney stones, diabetes, an above knee amputation, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis liver disease sent her to the hospital many times. It was there, surrounded by her family and friends, that she peacefully passed away after having the chance to engage in loving conversations with most of those she cared for and loved.
Wendy was raised in a strong Christian home and gladly joined Kevin in his ministry for almost 46 years of marriage. Through all of this, Wendy loved Jesus, her family, and her friends with a fierce devotion. Always giving and caring, even during health struggles and pain, Wendy had a reputation for reaching out to everyone she encountered.
Wendy is predeceased by her parents, Rea and Juanita, and her two infant brothers, Kerry in 1950 and Gary in 1958. She is survived by her husband Kevin of Sylvan Lake; two sons, Ryan (Lindsay) of Sylvan Lake and Daryl (Michelle) of Crossfield; six grandchildren, Jaryn, Emry, Ryker, Marshall, Gavin, and Emberton; brothers Greg Jervis (Gayle) and Jack Jervis (Lori Stewart); sister Lynda (Jacob Scheper); and a large extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Wendy will be held on Friday, August 21st at 11:00 AM at the Sylvan Lake Alliance Community Church. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Red Deer Regional Hospital, and in particular the staff of Unit 32 who graciously cared for her in her last days.
