Obituary

Raymond Alfred Johnston
Ray was born on April 1st, 1950, in Red Deer, AB, to Evelyn and William (Hank) Johnston. He passed away at the age of 76 on August l 0, 2026, in Rimbey, AB, surrounded by his wife, Janice and children.
Ray met Janice in Prince George, BC. They parted ways for a few years, reconnected, and married on March 4, 1972, in Prince George, BC.
At the age of 18, Ray attended auctioneer school and began his career as an Auctioneer. Throughout his life, he worked primarily as an auctioneer, but also drove big trucks, sold cars, farmed, worked at Blindman Feeders, co-owned a feed store and a gas station, built houses and sold RVs.
Ray's biggest accomplishments were his children: Julie, Darrell, Evelyn and David. They gave him grandchildren, then great-grandchildren. He taught his children to take time to laugh and spend time with loved ones. When Ray smiled, his whole face lit up, and everyone around him smiled. Ray taught his children to work hard and provide for their families. Ray volunteered for many organizations over the years; if he cared about something and a little help was needed, he was there, no matter the role.
This is one of the many traits he passed on to his children. His love extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he would do anything for them,
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his children: Julie (Rob), Darrell (Theresa), Evelyn and David (Mandi); his grandchildren: Sheldon, Caitlin, Nathan, Nicholas, Tenaya. Cameron, Ryley, Abby, Cole, Presley, Lily and Brooklyn; his great-grandchildren: Kloey, Rhylynn, Branson, Bailee and Sophelia; his sister Colleen; brother Bill (Elaine); sister-in-law Shelia, brother-in-laws: Wayne (Verna) and Gerry; sister-in-law Sharon; many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and Hank Johnston; in-laws Lillian, Henry and Jean Bazinet; two sisters: Carol and Marjorie; and one brother, Donald.
The family of Ray’s will be having a Celebration Tea on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 1 PM at the Leedale Community Center, Leedale, AB.
