Tammy Lorene Porttin

Jun 21, 1958 - Mar 12, 2026

Obituary

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Tammy Lorene Porttin on March 12, 2026 in Sylvan Lake, AB.
Tammy was born June 21, 1958. The 2nd child; first daughter, of Maxwell and Mavis Quinn in Estevan, SK. Tammy and her older brother Kim soon welcomed sisters Tina, Terry, Mona and brother Darcy. The family moved to Leduc in 1960, then to Eckville in 1970, where baby sister Ronda joined the clan.
Tammy lived in Eckville, raising her 3 children – Charlene, Cory, & Clayton. She was well known in the community for always working hard at the Tomboy Grocery Store, the Co-op and the good ol’ Eckville Hotel. In 1996 she moved to Sylvan Lake where she completed her insurance adjusters training and worked at the Co-Operators Insurance Agency.
June 2001 Tammy married the love of her life Wes Porttin and at the same time gained 2 more sons, Chad and Troy. Tammy and Wes enjoyed the last 25 years doing what they loved, together. Spending countless days lake side with friends in Scotch Creek, BC. She loved to travel the eastern coast of British Columbia, tour Bouchard Gardens and check out every single market along the way. She was always ready for a road trip, anywhere.
However, it was Tammy’s greatest joy that always brought them home. Her grandchildren and great grandbabies. Her love and devotion to all her grandchildren can never be matched. Every event, sleep over, shopping trip, and adventure was believed to be a special day. Every holiday brought treat bags, with “a little something special” for each of them. She shared her love for flowers, yard work and shopping with them all.
The reunion in heaven was a grand one as Tammy reunited with her father Maxwell (1969), brother Kim (1987), mom Mavis (2006), sister-in law Deborah/Ducky (2014), best friend Terry (2015) sister Tina (2017), mother-in law Mariam (2022) and nephew Dustin (2024).
She is deeply missed by her loving husband Wes Porttin, her children Charlene & Jason, Cory & Chantel, Clayton & Joanne, Troy, Chad & Janelle. Grandchildren Brock & Jonah (Inga, Roy, Jack, & Maeve), Hailea, Delaney, Emma (Vivy), Korbyn & Mayela, Shauna & Mike (Sophia), Aubrey, and Austin.
She also leaved behind sisters Terry & Daryl, Mona & Peter, Ronda & Barry, brother Darcy. Nieces and nephews, friends and extended family, too many to count.
Until we can hug you again, we love you deeply and miss you more than words can say.
