Ruby Joyce Fitch
December 10, 1030 - June 28, 2026
Ruby Joyce Fitch passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 28, 2026, at the age of 95. She was born on December 10, 1930.
Ruby was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, George "Earl" Fitch. She is survived by her son Garth (Tara) Fitch; her daughter Winnie (Michael) Van Grondelle; eight grandchildren and their partners; seven great-grandchildren and their partners; and, one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Victor Fitch; her sister-in-law Alice Wombold; her sister-in-law Netty Kilba; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbours.
Ruby lived a life of quiet devotion to her family and home. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, worked faithfully alongside Earl in the fields, and in retirement treasured many happy hours over coffee with good friends. She embraced adventure, travelling to see grizzly bears, polar bears, and the rugged beauty of Canada's East Coast. Though gentle in spirit, Ruby possessed remarkable grit and determination. She remained feisty to the very end, fighting courageously right to her last breath. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family.
In keeping with Ruby's wishes, a Private Graveside Service will be held at Sylvan Lake Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside Earl.
On behalf of the family, we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Bethany Care Centre, Sylvan Lake, for the exceptional compassion, kindness, and care they showed Ruby throughout her time there. Your support brought comfort not only to Ruby, but to our entire family, and we are deeply grateful.
