It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jergen Ernst Helmut Huebner on April 3, 2026, with his family by his side.
Jergen is lovingly remembered by his wife, Gwen; his daughters, Helga Nault (Stuart) and Bryanna Huebner (Jake); his daughters-in-laws, April Molander and Dianah Huebner; and his grandchildren, Trinity, Troy, Logan, Dayton, Carson, Kyle, Shyla, and Stephen. He also leaves behind his cherished great-granddaughter, Josie Danelle Thompson, who held a very special place in his heart. He is further survived by his siblings and their families: Ingrid (Ed) Weddell, Angie (Dennis) Moore, Dick (Carlene) Huebner, Fred (Donna) Huebner, Susie (Darryl) Thomlinson, and Peter (Trish) Huebner.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helga and Helmut Huebner; his sons, Shannon Molander and Kurt Huebner; and his niece, Patricia Weddell.
Jergen was born in Freiburg, Germany, on November 22, 1946, to Helga and Helmut Huebner. He spent his early years in Germany before immigrating to Canada with his family at the age of eight. They settled in the Olds–Bergen area of Alberta, where Jergen later began his career, training as a butcher at a local shop. He went on to work at IGA stores in Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House and was eventually transferred to locations in Drayton Valley and Whitecourt.
In 1967, Jergen made a significant career change, joining the oil rigs where he worked his way up from lease hand to tool push through determination and hard work. That same year, in September, he met Gwen—the moment that changed his life forever. He embraced her children as his own, becoming an instant father, and together they built a loving family, eventually welcoming three more children.
In 1977, Jergen and Gwen started their own trucking company, We-Haul Transport. Jergen drove while Gwen managed the office, forming a strong and dedicated partnership. Jergen had a true passion for trucking and hauled everything from water and asphalt to logs, frac sand, and gravel. He remained committed to his business until retiring in 2018, when Gwen began experiencing health challenges.
Retirement gave Jergen the opportunity to slow down and fully appreciate the moments he had once missed while working hard to provide for his family. He found great joy in spending time with his loved ones—camping trips, Sunday suppers, picnics at the beach, fishing, and card games. These moments created lasting memories and deepened the bonds he held so dear.
A celebration of Jergen’s life will be held on April 18, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Ridgewood Hall, Range Road 10, Red Deer County. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
