Darrel Robert Anderson was born Dec 16, 1944, the son of Mildred and Billy Anderson of Kelsey, Alberta. He passed away October 15, 2022. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 56 years, Loretta, two sons, Robert (Diana) in Texas and Colin (Kim) of Calgary, Alberta, 6 grandchildren. One brother, Rodney, (Rosanne) at Kelsey, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Dennis.

Darrel grew up on the farm, attended school in Rosalind, Alberta. In high school he became a curler, doing well in a high school provincial championship.

In 1966, after marrying Loretta, they moved to a farm north of Daysland, Alberta. During the 34 years spent on this farm, they raised 2 sons, grain crops and many, many hogs.
His nonfarm activities included curling, skiing, golf and best of all, fishing and camping at northern Alberta lakes.

In 2000 they sold the Daysland farm, moved to Norglenwold, where they stayed for 4 years before moving back onto a quarter of land where they built a house and shop, surrounded by a gorgeous lawn and trees and shrubs. In 2018 they sold the farm and moved to Sylvan Lake.

Summers were spent at Burnstick Lake, enjoying his family while camping. There were other holidays visiting the Texas family and helping his son grow his business.

A Celebration of Darrel’s life will be held at the Sylvan Lake Lions Hall, 5119 50 A Ave, Sylvan Lake, AB on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 1:30. Fellowship to follow.

Brenda Ringguth:

My sincere condolences to Darryl’s family.
I had hoped to attend the service today, but the weather had prevented me from driving from Red Deer.
My husband Larry & I (among many others) had many good visits with Darryl at GHDawe swimming pool. Although, I hadn’t seen him for over a year, due to Covid19, I did have a good visit with him at Michener Center, this summer.
He is missed. God Bless.

Shary Edmunds:
