Kayden Waisanen, known to many as “Weezy” passed away suddenly, February 20th. He was born to parents John and Judy Waisanen. He grew up on the farm where he swore from his first day of Grade 1, that he was meant to be. He attended Eckville Senior High School, where he spent most of his days farming and socializing. For 25 years he mastered his craft of farming alongside his partner in crime, John. Many times, they would come home with unexpected guests (cattle) or new equipment and have to explain to Judy how it came to be. While many of his younger years were spent with Davin, Kelsey and Karley tearing up fields, painting eggs or jumping in puddles, his contagious personality and big heart were shared with many others later on. Kayden had an impact on everyone who crossed paths with him. His ability to light up a room or sing a tune would never fail to leave everyone with a smile. That is what he was good at – making people smile or laugh until they cried.
Beyond his humor and positivity, he was the most hard-working and dedicated person. He gave everything to his family, his cattle, his friends and his dog Dewart or “Dewey”. Kayden first learned to drive tractor at a young age – “clipping” the swing set and barn with the John Deere lawn mower. It was amazing that they were still standing. He improved with hundreds of hours dedicated to silaging, harvest and chores. Kayden eventually made his home on land where Grandpa Simon initially settled, when he immigrated from Finland. He was so proud of his home, his brand, his land and his Finnish roots that inspired his dreams of having a sauna and his own mini ranch to calve out his cattle.
Some of Kayden’s favorite pastimes were spending time with his friends “ranching” and processing cattle, adventuring at BVJ, playing “name that tune”, singing along to every country song (and convincing others to love country music), cruising the roads checking his crops and cattle, and going to auctions and bull sales.
He was our treasured son, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. He loved his nephews and ensuring that they were provided with the noisiest of toys and everything John Deere. We are so grateful for the 25 years we got to spend with you and wish there were more. We will treasure every fond memory of you and watch for signs your spirit leaves for us.
Kayden will be lovingly remembered by his parents John and Judy Waisanen, his siblings Davin Waisanen (Christa), Kelsey Kenway (Riccardo), and Karley Saari (Owen), grandparents Rita Gust (Gordon Emms), aunt Brenda Markle (Keith), his nephews Everitt, Morris and Yannis, and his many friends.
In lieu of flowers, a trust fund will be set up at the Eckville Connect First Credit Union, for a scholarship designated for students pursuing continuing education related to agriculture or animal-based careers.
Cremation entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

Dear John, Judy, and Family,
The loss of Kayden has left our family with broken hearts and a million memories. I remember the first day this little teeny boy first sat in my chair for a haircut, so shy. And then grew into the kid that would come through the door with his "Howdy!" and have us in stitches in no time. I know there are no words that can ease your pain, but please know he was loved fiercely by so very many people. He left an impact on everyone he met and will always be in the best of our memories. RIP Kayden, gone much too soon. Hugs and love from us.

There are no words to adequately describe the deep heartbreaking sadness and sense of loss experienced with Kayden's unexpected death. We have so many amazing memories of Kayden and David together and their many adventures. We feel honored and privileged to have been part of his life from infancy to adulthood. From the time he could talk he had a sense of humor and always a smile. He could nickname anything and was truly born to the right life into such a loving family who cultivated his love of farm life. He loved his family deeply and he was loved deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
