Obituary

It is with much love and sweet memories we say goodbye to this wonderful lady; a mother to many and a friend to all. Ada passed away peacefully November 8, 2020 at the RDRHC in Red Deer, Alberta, at the age of 77 years.
Ada’s greatest offering was the gift of love she left to others, especially her family. She will be deeply cherished by her children: daughter Lori Barclay (Kevin) and son Kevin Seida; two beloved grandchildren: Tiphany Eliuk (Jesse) and Justin Barclay (Ariel); and three amazing great grandsons: Denim Eliuk, Mesten Eliuk and Oakland Eliuk. Ada will also be dearly missed by her siblings: Byran Newans, Ken Newans, Gordon Newans, Darlene Whitney, and Beverley Newans. Ada’s large extended family, many friends and former co-workers will always remember her kindness and selfless ways. Ada was predeceased by her parents Roy Delbert and Della Marie Newans, twin sister Ida, brothers Delbert, Wayne, Roy, Jerry, and her son Allen Newans.
Ada was born in Avonlea, Saskatchewan and raised on the family farm. She was one of ten children and was taught early on the importance of hard work. Ada took her schooling in the local area, later meeting and marrying Walter Seida. They moved to Calgary, Alberta and welcomed Lori in 1962 and Kevin in 1967. Ada was known for making everyone feel at home, she loved hosting gatherings and cooking for family and friends. Ada married Wayne Barager in 1976 and they lived in various locations including Rimbey, Grand Prairie and Slave Lake.
Ada’s engaging personality, big heart, and her desire to help others meant that she naturally chose jobs that involved people and spent a lot of happy years caring for them in many different capacities. Ada’s ever-ready smile and sense of humour brought joy to everyone around her. Her hugs, like a warm blanket on a chilly day, were always welcomed and never forgotten. Throughout her life, Ada enjoyed many activities including golf, curling, dancing, and singing. As well, she loved music and got immense pleasure collecting beautiful keepsakes. Ada took great pride in her appearance, so shopping for clothing, jewelry and getting her hair done were some favorite pastimes. During the last few years, Ada faced several health challenges including Lewy Body Dementia. She continued to live her life with courage and dignity, a proud example to everyone. Being with loved ones and visits with her precious great grandsons were treasured times.
A heartfelt thank-you to the RDRHC staff in the ER and units 22 and 32 for the care and compassion.
Memorial donations in Ada’s memory are gratefully accepted to any charity of your choice.
