Obituary

Michael William Screen

1969 - 2020

Born in Innisfail on February 11, 1969, Mike passed away on July 26, 2020. Mike grew up outside of Red Deer and loved the outdoors. Next to teasing relatives, he loved golfing, snowboarding, skiing, hunting, fishing, cooking, and camping. His proud western spirit was unmistakable as he cheered on the Edmonton Oilers and ‘our home team’ in curling. His eyes would twinkle when anyone would cheer for the other side – the teasing game on the spectator side of the ice was ON. He was a dedicated father, strongly supporting the activities of those he loved. He coordinated "The Mother of All Shoots" for the Red Deer archery club for several years and coached little league soccer as a proud father.

Due to current COVID related restrictions, no service will be held. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Mike’s name, they can be made to STARS Air Ambulance or the Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Ronda and Ainsley, I am so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing, Having worked with Mike for several years I always enjoyed his wild sense of humor and how helpful and easy he was to talk to. I will definitely miss his smile and laugh. Hugs to both of you.

Sean Barrow:

My deepest condolences. I worked with Mike for a number of years at Michener Centre. We also had the privilege of seeing our daughters compete in archery at the Alberta Winter games one year. Mike was down-to-earth, but always had a funny story or a joke to tell. I miss our break-time conversations, and the pranks we used to play. Rest in peace.
