Aug 16, 1960 - Dec 16, 2024

Obituary

Heather Anne Stevenson of Sylvan Lake, Alberta passed away at the age of 64 on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Rimbey Hospital.

Heather was born in Windsor, NS on August 16, 1960- the first of four children of Lloyd and Elizabeth (Betty) Baker of Falmouth, NS. Her early years were spent in Falmouth where she attended elementary school. After elementary grades she went to Windsor Regional School for senior classes. At the age of 16 she moved to Weymouth with the family, as her dad was the Baptist minister in that area, to finish her high school.

From Weymouth, Falmouth of her early years called her and she moved back to the old stomping ground and, staying with her Baker grandparents, she worked in a restaurant in Windsor. A gentleman, by the name of Ed, was regular to that restaurant and he worked at a local funeral home. Heather caught him and they married in 1980. Ed’s job caused a bit of moving about, so they moved to Bedford, then to Port-aux-Basques, Newfoundland. From Newfoundland, the West called and Ed and Heather moved to Sylvan Lake, Alberta.

While in Sylvan Lake, Heather upgraded her qualifications to become a licensed funeral director and worked with Ed in all aspects of the funeral business. Heather spread her wings and found work in several other places too until she became disabled. She was always interested in the Canadian Legion and so she participated in the Legion activities throughout the years.

Heather is survived by her husband of forty-four years Edward (Ed); sons David (Kathy) and Michael (Jennifer), and by two grandchildren Jada and Nathan. She is also survived by her dad, Rev. Lloyd Baker and his wife Isabel; sister Marion (Mitchell) Mullen; Joan (Peter) Asprey; and brother John.

She was predeceased by her mother Betty.

We will miss her from our midst and someday by faith we will be with her again. Heather, is in peace was blessed with a wonderful eternal home.

A private service for the family will be held.

As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
