As per Barry’s request there will be no funeral service.
Barry Clinton Wright of Eckville AB, passed away on July 18, 2022, at the age of 87 years.
Barry was born on July 31, 1934, to Hal and Viola Wright at home near Erskine AB. After attending school in Red Deer, he joined two of his brothers in southern BC where he worked in a sawmill for a few years. This is where he met his love, Jean, whom he soon married and before long their first two children, Rena and Bradley were born.
When the mill shut down, he moved back to Alberta along with his little family and soon a third baby, Dawn, came along. Barry joined his father in running Wright’s Repair, a service station in Spruceview. Here he apprenticed under Hal and became a licensed mechanic through SAIT. This training would serve him well as he soon joined the booming oilfield industry, eventually working as an operator at the Sylvan Lake gas plant, until his retirement in 1989. After retirement Barry enjoyed working as a handyman taking on a variety of carpentry projects.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, children Rena (Rob) Brad (Chris) and Dawn (Darcy) and his sisters Barbara and Haleen and brother Harold. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Mandi, Bobbi, Kara, Taze, Tustan, and Tasia who each have fond memories of their grandpa who loved to tease.
Barry was predeceased by his parents Hal and Viola, his brothers Jim and Ralph and his sisters Ruth, Gloria, and Mary.
Cremation entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
