Patricia “Pat” Meyers
February 27, 1946 - October 17, 2023
Patricia “Pat” Meyers passed away in Acute Care at the Rimbey Hospital on Tuesday October 17, 2023, at the age of 77 years after a battle with Cancer. Pat was born Patricia Wilson in Bremerton, WA on Feb. 27, 1946. She was adopted in Drumheller, AB by George and Edna Smith of Benalto, AB. Pat lived her first eighteen years in the Benalto area on the family farm. She was joined by her brother David when she was 5. Pat went to school in Benalto and then went to Lindsay Thurber in Red Deer for Grades 11 and 12.
Mom worked for many years at the CIBC, starting in 1964 and retiring with them in 2011. She worked most of her career at the Eckville Branch, but also worked at the Pincher Creek Branch and the Main Branch in Red Deer.
Music was Mom’s passion. She started playing piano at the age of 2 and did her first public appearance at the age of 3. Mom played in various bands throughout her life as well as playing solo for various events and businesses to provide background music. She always looked forward to playing at the Eckville Manor at Christmas with her Daughter-in-Law, Sherry, and Granddaughter Dannica. She recorded several CDs of her music and vocals as she wanted to continue to share her love of music with as many people possible.
In 2008, Mom decided to take up Tap Dancing lessons in Eckville. She loved Tap and was able to take part in many recitals in group Tap and Tap duets with her Granddaughter Dannica. She said, “Tap forced me to get off my butt and exercise”. Mom was very proud to be able to take part and was able to dance with both her Granddaughters.
Pat is survived by her son Dwayne (Sherry) Meyers, Granddaughters Sydney and Dannica Meyers, Brothers David Smith, and Ken Mogck. Pat was predeceased by her
Parents, George and Edna Smith, and Son, Travis Meyers. Many thanks to the Staff at the Eckville Manor House and Staff at Rimbey Acute Care Center for their care and support.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Benalto Cemetery on November 8, 2023. A public memorial service will follow at the Eckville Community Centre at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made in Pat’s name to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of the donor’s choice. Cremation entrusted to Sylvan Lake Funeral Home and Crematorium.
