Sylvan Lake Legion
Please join us for a Come and Go Memorial Service in Donald's memory at the Sylvan lake Legion on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Donald Gilbert Clancy on May 9, 2024. We rejoice in the knowledge that because dad professed Christ as his Savior, he is with the Lord, and we will be united again as John 14, verse 2-6 proclaims.
Dad was born in Durban, Manitoba to Stanley Clancy and Lillian Worsley. Dad took his schooling in the Durban Consolidated School and quit in the sixth grade to help on the farm. He spent many winters in logging camps. He gave that up to work for Sohio Oil in southern Saskatchewan.
Dad then met Elinor Wagner at a boarding house, to which they married in 1956. To this union was born Brenda, Laura, and Brent. Dad moved the family back to Durban, Manitoba when the oil prices fell and took up farming again, only to move to Alberta in 1979. Dad was a very proud supporter of the Legion. He loved baking and cooking and shared with anyone who came through his door.
Donald is survived by his daughter Brenda and her husband George, and their children Jessica and Kyle (Leeah); daughter Laura and husband Vern Anderson, and their children Jayson (Seonha), and their children Rehon and Reina; Lorne Anderson and his daughter Kiera; Phara and her husband Jacob Blom, and their children Freya, Ellina, and Lucas; Son Brent and his wife Tracey, and their children Matthew (Gemma) and Mark; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Sylvan Lake Legion on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
