Christinsson and Stephansson Family Cemetery in Markerville, Alberta
Rosnah Binti Abdul Rahman
(Stephansson)
April 2, 1960, to April 25, 2022
With heavy hearts, the family regret to inform the passing of Rosnah (Rose) in the afternoon of April 25th, 2022. At the Red Deer Hospital, Alberta, Canada with her loving husband by her side.
Rose was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to her Mother Razmah Binti Shafie and Father Abdul Rahman Bin Ismail.
Rose took her schooling there attending the Methodist Girls School Kuala Lumpur. Where word was she was funny, serious, kind, mischievous, compassionate, secretive, gentle, loving, silly and so much more..in short she was fun to be with. Rose was easy to get along with, always generous with her smiles and laughter. Ever ready to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on.
In 1978 Rose joined Saudi Arabia Airlines as a flight attendant. She flew extensively between KL and all points in Saudi Arabia.
In the 1980s Rose was promoted to flight purser and flight supervisor roles. Based out of Bombay first, then Bangkok later.
Rose also became group base supervisor at one point, and for quite a while. She was working more in the corporate Saudi office rather than flying. Rose was a kind and sympathetic base supervisor. She was very understanding and would champion on behalf of the crew rather than the management.
She had that sparkle and big smile always and was well liked by everyone. She had a sense of humor and mischievousness and you couldn’t help wondering ‘mmmmm what is Rosnah up to now’!
Rose retired from the Saudi Airlines in 1992.
After her flight career, Rose remained in Malaysia. Where she stayed with her brother Ley and helped him with his business. She also owned and operated a restaurant, her startup with her friend.
In 2011, Rose met the love of her life Ron at Desa Kudalari, Kuala Lumpur. They courted until married in 2014. During this time, Ron and Rose made numerous trips not only back to Canada but around SE Asia and the world as well. In 2014 Ron’s work took them to Oman where they lived until 2017 then returned to Kuala Lumpur.
In 2020 after Covid hit, Ron and Rose moved back to Canada to the country where Ron grew up. Rose remained there with Ron until her passing.
Rosnah is survived by her loving husband Ron Stephansson of Markerville, Alberta Canada, her mother Razmah, her older brother and sister, Razak and Regina of Kuala Lumpur. As well as her younger brothers Rozley of Kuala Lumpur, Razman of Kota Kinabalu and Ridzuan of Kuala Lumpur. Along with numerous nephews and nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces, brother in law and sister in-laws.. She was predeceased by her farther Abdul Rahman.
She will be fondly remembered and missed by her family and a multitude of friends from Malaysia, Canada and around the World.
Rosnah received her funeral prayer at the Red Deer Islamic Center at 2:20 PM April 27th, 2022. From God she came to God she shall return.
As per Rose’s wishes, she will be interned at the Christinnson and Stephansson Family Cemetery in Canada.
A Graveside service for family and close friends was held at 230 PM April 29th, 2022.
A special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Central Alberta Cancer Center Red Deer, Gamma Knife University Hospital Edmonton, Emergency Red Deer Hospital and Unit 32 Red Deer Hospital. For the excellent care and attention they gave Rose.
Eulogy / Airline Stories:
Although time was short, we managed to get a few stories from Rose’s flying days at the airlines.
Rose said they had a lot of fun during their flights. Between meal services or ground time we would joke around with the rest of the crew and shared food and stories.
Rose recalled a story where some passengers could not decide if they wanted coffee or tea so they poured half coffee and half tea! And then ran off to the galley to have a big giggle!
Another story was when they did a domestic flight to a remote town in Saudi Arabia. When the passengers arrived, they were looking for their shoes and gesturing at us in Arabic showing their bare feet. Apparently they had left their shoes outside the airplane when they boarded and they expected their shoes to be there at their destination! We all had a good belly laugh!
They also had a blast during layovers in Seoul Korea, because the shopping there was incredible in the 80’s. She remembers one day when her and her friends were buying clothes and soft toys. Rose wondered out loud, “Why did we have to buy so many things because now we have to pack and carry them home!”
Rose and her flying companions loved the night life, as it was the early 80’s during the disco era. On off days in Bangkok they would usually sleep at home waiting for the sun to go down, so they could go party the night away. As she said, they were night creatures on their days off.
Rose was very easygoing, gentle and radiant at the same time. No one will forget that glorious big smile of hers, and her infectious laugh. She will be missed by all.
