The family of Eric Snow are saddened to share the news of his passing on March 8th 2025 at the age of 94 years.
Eric was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and grew up there before marrying his wife Audrey and raising a family. His first job was working as a Longshoreman in the maritime industry alongside his brothers, he then worked at Saint John Sugar Refinery prior to joining the Canadian Armed Forces in 1957. Eric remained with the military for 28 years working as a United Nations Peace Keeper and a load master on a Buffalo de Havilland aircraft with the 424 squadron. In 1985 Eric retired from the CAF and chose to work part time transporting motorhomes as he enjoyed the travel aspect of the job.
Over the course of Eric’s life he and his family had numerous postings across Canada including a 3.5 year stay in Germany. His final posting was in 1973 in Calgary at the Canadian Forces Base. After retiring he moved to High River, Alberta where he spent the remainder of his years with his wife Phylis. In January 2023 he relocated to Sylvan Lake, Alberta to be close to his family during the last months of his life.
Eric was pre deceased by his parents Lyla and Howard Snow; by his first wife Audrey and is survived by his second wife Phylis. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Stephen Snow (Sue), Faith Snow; his grandchildren: Anjela, Kristal (William) and Jonathan; he was soon to become a great grandfather.
Eric had a wonderful disposition on life, always quick with a joke or laugh and made others around him smile, even when he became sick he still remained positive and brave. He loved his backyard hummingbirds and had multiple feeders, he also enjoyed watching the news, Old western movies, and was passionate about hockey.
As per Eric’s request there will not be a funeral, donations may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation in Eric’s memory.
Our family would like to thank the staff at the Sylvan Lake Seniors Lodge, and Taylorview Towers in Red Deer that helped Eric with his care we know he appreciated all of you.
