Obituary

On March 8, 2023 with much love, we said Good-bye to our Mother Winifred Mayhew Pedersen (Anderson). Wyn was born on September 10, 1926 to Winifred Mary Anderson (Mayhew) and Jack Edward Anderson in Winnipeg and moved to BC in the 1930’s.

Wyn is predeceased by her parents, her husband Pete (Harold) and her sister Eileen Darlington (Anderson).

Wyn is survived by 1 son, Kris Pedersen (Margaret), and 3 daughters, Dawn Devlin (Ron), Lynda Bowors (Mike) and Laura Ansley; 12 Grandchildren: Scott, Tanya, Deanne, Karl, Terese, Doug, Todd, Melanie, David, Zachary, Skylar, Tahawnie: 18 Great Grandchildren: Tyson, Tanner, Tessa, Isaiah, Talia, Benji, Chase, Hudson, Emma, Carter, Daniel, Ethan, Jayden, Isaac, Sophia, Emily, Emma, Zenaida.

Wyn was a gifted person, a Mother/Wife/Grandmother/Care giver first but she was also an Artist, following in her father’s path, with watercolours and oil paints – she has passed this gift on to some of the Grands. Wyn loved music, her father was a musician and she appreciated all music but especially Country and Gospel…. She would often be spotted humming along to a tune while doing her chores. Her many crafts of sewing, knitting, crochet, tatting & painting have been taught and passed on to the next generations.

Wyn and Pete cared for 38 foster children in their time together while raising their own children. Wyn was a devoted Christian that supported her own Community and knitted garments faithfully for Missions for years.

Wyn was quiet and private, strong, and dependable, full of love and support, we miss her!
Thank you to all of the Staff and Caregivers at Red Deer Hamlets for your excellent care of our Mom!

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Benalto Baptist Church, Benalto, AB.

Condolences

Brian Mellis:

Wyn was a super mom, she put up with my adolescent nonsense as a young believer in Deep Cove. I expect to get a well deserved cuff on the ear when we meet at the throne. Much loved and will be missed, Brian

Sue Johnstone (Sivertson):

To my cousins and family, my thoughts are with you in this difficult time. I always thought of Aunt Wyn as being so gracious and thoughtful. She stayed in touch with my Mom (Gertie) sharing photos and memories of Harold (Mom's brother), even after his passing. So considerate and giving. May she rest in peace.

Polly Campbell:

Wyn sounds like a true blessing to her family and humanity. What an incredible legacy she created!
My condolences to Terese Bowors, her beloved family, friends and everyone whose life she touched.
In peace,
Polly Campbell,
Castleagr, BC

David Jones:

On behalf of the Jones family we wish to express our sincere condolences. I truly appreciated Mrs. Pedersen as I knew her and always remember her kind words of wisdom. If I am not mistaken she was the first person to be converted in the new Sunday School in Deep Cove back in the 1950s. May the Lord comfort all of you at this time of grieving, knowing she is with the Lord.

Greta Holt:

Terese and family,
So sorry for your loss. To think that her teaching you tatting, was part of my journey to learn to tat, too. As my tatting always reminds me of you, I will also remember her as well. Such a lovely gift to pass along and receive. I am sure you and the family will miss her greatly. Take care and sending condolences and love.
Greta
