Cheryl Ann Lukash

Feb 29, 1972 - Dec 21, 2024

Obituary

Cheryl Ann Gibson, born on leap year day of February 29, 1972, after battling a difficult infection, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at Red Deer Hospital. Her life was as extraordinary as her birthdate, she brought joy and light to all who knew her.

Born in Sherwood Park, Alberta, and raised around Red Deer, Cheryl had a deep love for social connections and people. She was known for her warmth, bubbly personality, and an incredible ability to lift the spirits of the downtrodden and lonely. Cheryl’s love of the outdoors, animals, camping, dancing, laughter and children reflected her vibrant and caring soul.

Christmas was Cheryl’s favorite time of year, a season that perfectly mirrored her love for family and the joy she shared with others. She will be missed terribly by her three wonderful and strong children, Shaylee, Brayden, and Rylen, who were the greatest joys of her life. She is also survived by her mom Janice Gibson of Sylvan Lake, her brother Jeff Gibson (Lorna) of Sylvan Lake, and many dear friends. Her father, Gary Gibson is remembered also, who passed two months later. Cheryl loved  her dad so very much, they were close and now are together again.

Cheryl is now at peace in heaven, maybe sharing a glass of wine with her beloved Aunt Diamond and her friend Sonja and all the family who went before her. Though her last few years were marked by challenges, Cheryl will always be remembered for her selflessness, vibrant spirit, and endless compassion for others.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life is being planned for this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cheryl’s memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association, honoring her enduring love for helping others.

Cheryl’s bright and loving spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace with Jesus whom she rested her whole heart and trust in, to the end.
