Obituary

David Charles Dale, husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbour, passed suddenly at his residence at Sylvan Lake, Alberta on October 1, 2021 at the age of 71.

David was born in London Ontario, attended Fanshawe College in London and Centennial College in Toronto, achieving his Heavy Equipment Technician certification (HET). He started his career with Chas.L.Dale & Sons farm equipment in Belmont Ontario and furthered his trade by obtaining certification in Automotive and Farm Equipment mechanics. In 1980 he relocated with his young family and made Sylvan Lake their home community. Dave continued his career as a Heavy Equipment Technician and in the last ten years prior to retirement, was a HET instructor at Red Deer College.

Dave’s contributions were both numerous and varied, from Boy Scouts to 4-H clubs, volunteer firefighter to Rural Crime Watch and kids sports to parent council among many others. Most notably, Dave was a community Santa Claus, a volunteer driver for Central Alberta Winter Games, Alberta Winter Games, Canada Winter Games and most recently the driver for the Sylvan Lake Senior Citizens’ bus association and reffing old timers hockey.

Dave always took time to chat, was willing to diagnose car troubles for those in need, and never turned down a chance to lend a hand.

Dave is survived by his wife Brenda, his sons: Robert (Bri), Gregory (Florence) and Steven (Nadine), extended: Randi Dale, his grandchildren: Preston, Andrew, Bronson, Victoria, Maizee and Michelle, his siblings: Linda Wintermute (Ed), Lorne (Betty) and Karen Zimmer (Paul).

Dave was a man of great integrity, tremendous joy and truly gave more than he took from the world.

Dave will be greatly missed by his community and his family.

Due to current health concerns and the extent of the lives Dave impacted, a private family-only service will be held at this time. A more public celebration of his life may be held at a future date.
