Obituary

Glenn Andrew Charles Knieper, 84, of Stauffer, Alberta passed away peacefully on August 27, 2022, at the Myron Thompson Health Center in Sundre, Alberta. He was born on June 5, 1938, in Calgary, Alberta.

He married Phyllis, the love of his life, in 1960. Together they built a dairy farm, in Stauffer, and raised a family, while being greatly involved in the community and projects. Glenn was known for his love of socializing. In the early years, Glenn and Phyllis had an open-door policy where company was always welcome at their family home. In the later years Glenn became the “paper boy”, it wasn’t uncommon to meet him on the road as he travelled around the countryside from one home to another, to pop in and drop off the newspaper, and visit over coffee. Glenn had a great sense of humor and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He touched the hearts of everyone that he encountered.

Glenn was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis in 2009, his father and mother, Oren and Frieda Knieper, his youngest son, Ronny in 1984, his granddaughter, Twyla in 2022, sisters, Beth Baldry, and Arlie Olsen.

He is mourned by his surviving children, Wendy (Dale) Fisher, Darren (Jo-Anne) Knieper, Corinne Dixon.
His memory will be cherished by his seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Glenn also leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews.

What a large loss for your family and for the Stauffer community. Glen and Phyllis were great neighbours for a farm kid to have. They were great examples of how communities flourish when neighbours work together.
