A Celebration of Kit’s life will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 at Gospel Chapel, 4920 50st, Sylvan Lake, at 2:00pm. Mom will be laid to rest in the Diamond Valley Cemetery at 10:00am on July 6th, next to her husband Ed.

Katherine ‘Kit’ Lightbown

1919-2019

Katherine ‘Kit’ was born to Stephen and Annetta Biswanger on July 14th, 1919 east of Innisfail, AB and passed away peacefully on July 1, 2019 at Sylvan Lake, AB surrounded by the love of her family.

Kit is survived by her 7 children and their spouses, Anne (Ray) Reynolds of Sylvan Lake, Ted (Audrey) Lightbown of Red Deer, Marilyn (Bill) Reeser of Sylvan Lake, Ken (Sharon) Lightbown of Spruceview, Allan (Gill) Lightbown of Blackfalds, Glenda (Stein) Rasmussen of Sylvan Lake, and Linda (Cal) Hilman of Sylvan Lake. She is also survived by 38 grandchildren and their spouses, 59 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great grandchildren. Kit is survived also by 1 brother Verne Biswanger of Calgary, 2 sisters in laws, Pat Lightbown and Darlene Klatt of Red Deer.

Kit was predeceased by her husband Ed Lightbown, 2 grandsons; Trevor Solberg and Jeffry Lightbown, son in law Alvin Solberg, both her parents and her siblings; Myrtle Stewart, Wynne Biswanger, Lawrence Biswanger, Marjorie Wickens, Elsie Belich and Evelyn Johnson.

A Celebration of Kit’s life will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 at Gospel Chapel, 4920 50st, Sylvan Lake, at 2:00pm. Mom will be laid to rest in the Diamond Valley Cemetery at 10:00am on July 6th, next to her husband Ed.

For those who wish to make a memorial contribution in Kit’s name, donations may be made to either the Bethany Care in Sylvan Lake or to The Lending Cupboard in Red Deer.

My Grandma Chris Mayhew really enjoyed being with her cousin at the Bethany care center in Red Deer. My condolences to all the family at this difficult time. My memories date back to camping with Kit and Ed out at Prairie Creek back in the ‘70s

I'm so sad to see that Kit did not make it to her 100th birthday. I enjoyed chatting with her and doing her makeup this passed mothers day at our ladies spa day event. Sending love to the family during this time!
