Obituary for William (Bill) Dollery
The Man. The Myth. The Legend.
November 22, 1955 – March 3, 2025
In his 70th year
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Dollery, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, on March 3, 2025, surrounded by family after a difficult six-month battle with health issues.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Agnes Dollery, his sister Mickey (Clem), and his brother Mike (Lisa). He leaves behind his soulmate, Penny, whom he cherished beyond words, and their children Joel (Julie), Brianne (Adam), Whitney (Tommy), and Jordan (Kyle). Bill was also a proud Papa to Jake, Logan, Charlie, Levi, Taytum, Wrenn, and Hannah. Uncle Bill will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, Jessie (Katie), Jamie (Steph), and their children, Darcy, Rebecca, and Bryce.
With a mischievous twinkle in his piercing blue eyes, Bill made an unforgettable mark on everyone he met. A man of big hugs, a giant heart, and an even bigger personality, Bill was known for his enduring warmth, infectious laughter, and unforgettable spirit. His presence lit up any room, and his love for those around him was boundless. Whether it was arm wrestling, sharing a drink, or offering a genuine handshake, Bill was always larger than life. His legacy of love, strength, and laughter will be carried on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Bill was a man of many names in his hockey career. The Enforcer, Crunch, or One-Punch—titles he earned through his unforgettable hockey career with the Guelph Biltmore "Mad Hatters." Though his penalty minutes may have outnumbered his goals, Bill's toughness and resilience on the ice were matched only by his kindness and loyalty off of it. A true gentleman with a sense of humor that could disarm even the toughest, Bill had a knack for making everyone feel like they were in on the joke.
Beyond the rink, Bill was a firefighter and a proud bushman, always ready to lend a helping hand and give the shirt off his back to those in need. His selflessness and big-hearted nature were at the core of who he was. Though his imposing physicality made him a force to be reckoned with, those who truly knew him understood he was a softy—a man full of love, warmth, and laughter, always quick with a hug and a kind word.
Bill’s retirement years were spent in bliss at their log home drinking Laker at Vowel Lake, where he and Penny enjoyed peaceful days filled with pontoon boat rides with the dogs, swimming to the island, sauna sessions, and drinks by the water. It was here that Bill formed deep, lifelong friendships with many local residents, leaving behind a legacy of camaraderie and joy.
As Bill and Penny embarked on their next adventure out West, he enjoyed time on the water on Sylvan Lake. Penny will forever miss her drinking buddy and partner in crime. As Bill always said, "Every day is a good day, just some days are better than others."
Though Bill may no longer be with us, his legacy of love, laughter, positivity and strength lives on in his family, his friends, and everyone whose life he touched. A true legend, he will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Bill. You are forever in our hearts.
Celebration of life will be held Sunday July 27, 2025 from 2p.m-5p.m at Memory Gardens Funeral Home 2723 Victoria Street North, Breslau, ON.
In lieu of flowers please donate to an animal shelter of your choice.

Penny, we are so sad for the loss of your beloved soul mate, Bill. Bill was such a beloved presence on our lake, with his brilliant sense of humour, his unlimited kindness, and the joy he brought out in everyone's day with his smile. He had the uncanny knack of drawing in to his circle every person and EVERY DOG who came by. We were all blessed to know and love him.
