Obituary

Alma Dobie
1929 – 2023

The other night as the snow fell, Doug came down and whispered in your ear. Soon you left with the angel to now watch over us all. With broken hearts we share with family, friends, and loved ones. Alma Dobie has passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023.

Alma was diagnosed with dementia in 2019, but she still managed to have her joyful and happy sense of humor. Alma has lived a good life and loved her family very much. She was predeceased by her husband Doug Dobie in 2000. She leaves to mourn their three children, Karen (Richard Donaghy (1963-2013), Joanne (Peter Di Saverio), and Wayne. Their six grandchildren, William, Brenden, Sophia, Jarret, Thomas, and Justin all were special to Alma and cherished the time they spent with her.

Alma was a life member of the legion in Calgary, Alberta, Fox Creek, Alberta and Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
She has enjoyed being a member of the ladies’ auxiliary for many years.

Alma was loved by many friends and family and will be very missed.

I met Alma attending Legion Ladies Auxiliary events. When I became an officer of Command Auxiliary, Alma was always there to help my visit go
Smoothly and make sure I was looked after. She will be greatly missed as a Ladies Auxiliary member and friend.

Christina Pizzola and family:

Dear Joanne, Peter, William, Thomas and families. I am so very sorry to hear of your moms/ grandmothers passing. I know how much all of you loved her, and her you. Joanne, I loved reading about your special moments in helping her to get better. That’s how it was with my mom. You will treasure all the memories. It will be 10 years for my mom on March 17th and there isn’t a day that goes by when I go not miss or think of her. Know that your mom is at peace in God’s arms and she will watch over everyone, always. With love and deepest condolences.

Sophia Di Saverio:

I love you Gramma. When I was growing up you seemed so far away. As soon as I was old enough, I moved to Calgary from Ottawa. I wanted to spend as much time with you as I could. I feel like the luckiest granddaughter to have been able to stay with you until I couldn't.
I will always remember the Birthday and Christmas cards I received every year. My favorite memories are doing puzzles with you. Every time put together the Flowers in Blue Vase by Van Gogh I will be thinking of you.
I miss you already.

Simone Powell:

My deepest condolences Joanne to you and the whole family.
Alma was such a beautiful lady, with an amazing sence of humor and wonderful smile, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. RIP Alma.

Italo & Lori Di Saverio:

We did not know Alma well but were lucky to have had the chance to meet her on several occasions when she came to Ottawa to visit Joanne and her family. A petite but strong lady with a huge heart and a big smile. Alma was very special to so many.
Joanne, Peter, William, Sophia and Thomas - our thoughts are with you as you say goodbye to your mother, mother-in-law, grandmother.
Our deepest sympathies as well to all of Alma’s family and friends.

Italo & Lori Di Saverio

Roxanne Schaub:

Our thoughts are with you as you say goodbye to your mom/grandma. My memories of time spent with Alma will always be in my heart.

Joanne DiSaverio:

Mom, I hope you know how special of a person you have always been. You have always been pleasant, generous and funny. I was very blessed these past three months to have been able to spend all my time with you to give you support and encouragement throughout your healing process. You survived and walked again. Maybe it was too much for you and you just wanted to sleep. I will always have our memories of our time and conversations we shared during that time. You will forever be my angel.
Love you so much,
Joanne
