Obituary

Richard Douglas Cammidge
1967 – 2023

Rick Cammidge passed away at home surrounded by his entire family on September 24, 2023 after a battle with esophageal cancer. He was born December 4, 1967 in Stettler, Alberta to Doug and Jean (Hunter) Cammidge and was the oldest of three children.

He will be remembered by his mom Jean, younger sister Cheryl Rolfes (Shane Woods), his youngest sister Keltie Wolney (Murray), his nieces Teylor Rolfes (Kyle Kearns), Jordyn Matthews (Robbie), his nephews Rex Wolney, Levi Wolney (Jorja) and great nephew Karver Kearns, and numerous aunts, cousins, and uncle. Rick was predeceased by his father Doug Cammidge and brother-in-law Darrell Rolfes. He had many solid friends he considered brothers and sisters (you know who you are).

In his youth, Rick was a natural athlete involved in all sports, especially hockey where he excelled. His favourite team was the Habs, and he was an avid fan. He loved rock and roll music (Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Kiss), watching sports on TV (the Dallas Cowboys and the Toronto Blue Jays along with his beloved Habs), and crossword puzzles.

Rick loved Jesus with his whole heart and read His word ‘til the very end of his life. He was a hard worker, truck driving and steaming for Tracker Steam and finally Foothills Energy where he was affectionately known as “Tricky Ricky”. He loved life and always said “he had way too much fun and zero regrets.” He was a kind and gentle soul who had a good sense of humour, a smile on his face and was the most undiscovered rock star in the world.

Rick will be laid to rest in Eckville. At his request, there will be no funeral service and cremation has taken place.

Those wishing may make donations in memory of Rick to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Condolences

Lisa Lee (Remillard):

Dear Jean and Family,
I am so, so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. So sorry. Shocked is an understatement. He was always genuinely and unapologetically himself, and was always kind and positive. I always looked forward to his random phonecalls each year and will miss those. He loved the Lord for sure and I can just imagine the giggle he has in Heaven. His presence and spirit on earth will truly be missed, I am sure, but his love and laughter will continue in your hearts forever.
God's everlasting love and peace to you, Jean. Please know my heart and prayers are with you and your family.
And I will miss you, Rick. You were a gift.
Lisa

Mary Carlyle:

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Greg and myself (Mary) haved shared many wonderful conversations with Rick since Neil's passing. We are very thankful that just before Rick got his diagnosis he stopped by for a chat. We were very saddened to hear of his passing. Sure going to miss his unexpected but always welcomed visits. Rest in Peace Rick alongside your Dad, Daryl and Neil.

Sheila & Rod O'Handley:

Our thoughts are with you and your family, Jean. I will always remember the time he came and sat beside me, a complete stranger , but one I had known forever. He loved his Mother as he described the house you lived in when you were young. He was very polite - a pleasure to have known him.

Arlene Armeneau:
