Peter Grant Duncan
July 18, 1945-April 9, 2024
Peter Grant Duncan of Eckville passed away peacefully at the age of 78 with family by his side at the Rimbey Hospital on April 9, 2024.
Peter grew up on the family homestead west of Eckville where he spent most of his life until moving to the Eckville Manor.
Realizing early on that farming or logging wasn’t for him, Peter entered into the oilfield & found his passion working on drilling rigs where he made many friends & memories over the years.
Later in his career, Peter attended Keyano College & became a grader operator, but dirt work was not for him & the patch was still calling his name. He finished out his career hauling water to various rigs across Alberta where he made more new friends & enjoyed sharing his experiences with the rig crews.
When Peter wasn’t working, he enjoyed camping, fly fishing & the occasional road trip with friends in the summertime. When fall arrived the fly rods were put away & the hunting rifles came out. He spent many hours enjoying the outdoors & time spent with his hunting partners. When hunting season had passed & the lakes froze over, Peter spent most of the winter ice fishing with family & friends. When the time came that Peter was no longer able to experience the outdoors like he used to, he liked listening to other people’s experiences & that would remind him of his own special memories. Peter loved to share those memories with anyone that took the time to listen.
Before moving to the Manor, Peter spent his last few years on the farm tinkering in his garage and quadding with his dogs Diesel & Jax.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, George & Helen Duncan, his wife Clara, his siblings Hazel (Eric), Gladys (Dewey), George (Anne), Jean (Bill), Jim (Doreen), Robert (Donna), & Edward. He is survived by his daughter Kelli, step daughter Tracey, sons Shaun (Carla), Derek (Leah), grandchildren Bronwyn, Scott, Daniel, Rachel, Darby, Mckye, Holly & Carson & his sisters-in-law Anne & Donna as well as many nieces & nephews.
Please join us for a come & go celebration of life at the Eckville Legion Friday, April 26 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. A light lunch will be provided.
