Obituary

Joyce Ilcisin
1935-2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mom has earned her wings. She passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice with her family by her side on November 9, 2024 at the age of 89.

Joyce was born April 14, 1935, in Red Deer, Alberta. In 1956 she married Nick Ilcisin. They lived in Red Deer for five years and then moved out to Sylvan Lake where they started farming. Joyce was a very active farm wife as she took positions in unifarm, CWL, curled, and won citizen of the year award for her volunteer work.

Joyce is survived by her three daughters Marilyn, Marion (Ray), Helen (Dean) and her son Mike (Jayne). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14.5 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Nick in 2013, and son-in-law Joe Reiswig in 2022. Joyce had a wonderful life but at the end was ready to be reunited with her husband once again.

We would like to send out a huge thank you to all the beautiful staff on Unit 32 at the Red Deer Hospital and the Red Deer Hospice. We are so very grateful for the wonderful care Mom received while at both facilities.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Deer Hospice, or the Sylvan Lake Legion.

A Celebration of Mom’s life will be held at the Legion in Sylvan Lake, Alberta on December 21, 2024 at 1 o’clock pm.
