Eileen Marie Gallagher (Metz)
Eileen passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Rimbey Hospital at the age of 89.
Eileen resided in Sylvan Lake, AB but was born in Regina and raised on a grain farm by Rowatt, SK just south of Regina. She attended the one room schoolhouse, South Regina till grade nine. She moved into Regina for high school to Sacred Heart Academy. Upon graduation, she attended Alliance Business College and then worked at General Motors head o?ce in Regina where she met Ed. Ed and Eileen were married in June 1959 at Our Lady of the Praires church in Rowatt. All ?ve of their children were born in Regina but also lived in Winnipeg and Calgary before they settled in Sylvan Lake, AB in 1979. Ed and Eileen RV’d extensively across North America. Eileen was a homemaker who loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially playing cards. Eileen also enjoyed reading and watching curling and Jeopardy on TV. Ed and Eileen attended Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Sylvan Lake.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Gallagher in August 2020, by her parents, Peter and Magdalene; sister Louise Metz, brothers Leland, Milford and Laverne Metz.
She is survived by her children: Brian Gallagher, Debbie (Greg) Anderson, Neil Gallagher, Sharon (Darcy) Mazurkewich, and Donna (Danny) Desrosiers; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, her older brother Melvin Metz and brother-in-law Gary (Sandy) Gallagher all in Regina, SK., many nieces and nephews. Eileen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
A heartfelt thank you to all the Angels that work for Sylvan Lake Home Care and Rimbey hospital for the amazing care they gave Eileen.
