Obituary

The family of Hilda Good are saddened to share news of her passing on March 7, 2025, at the age of 88 years.

Hilda was born in Mirror, Alberta, and grew up on a farm east of Lacombe. She later worked in Calgary before marrying John Good in 1959. Together, they farmed and raised Black Angus cattle for over 20 years in the Waskasoo district, south of Red Deer.

In 1985, Hilda and John retired to Armstrong, BC, where they spent more than two decades enjoying golfing, bowling, canning BC fruit, and the company of great friends. They later returned to Ponoka, and in her later years, Hilda made her home in Sylvan Lake.

A woman of many talents and quiet strength, Hilda found joy in reading, sewing, handcrafts, and playing cards—and if you ever challenged her to a game of Skip-Bo, chances were, you’d lose.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, in 2020, after more than 60 years of marriage. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Denise Leeder, Susan Good, Margaret Rowland (Tim), and Darcy Good (Reia); her grandchildren: Stephanie Grant (Nick), Samira Rowland (Brent), Sean Rowland, Brandon Good (Emily), Devin Good (Jamie), and Parker Good (Fay); and her eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial drop-in tea to celebrate Hilda’s life will be held on Sunday, March 23, from 1:00–4:00 PM at Meridian Beach Hall, by Gull Lake.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Hilda’s memory may be made to the Red Deer Hospice.
