Obituary

From, Warren (Bud) Homer

1933-2021

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Warren, better known as Bud.

He was born January 8, 1933 in Spy Hill Saskatchewan. He left us June 10, 2021 at Bethany Care Center in Sylvan Lake. He was predeceased by his wife Dawn of 59 years. Now they can celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary together.

He grew up on the farm in Saskatchewan. He trained to be a Heavy Duty Mechanic in Saskatoon. Then he moved to Edmonton in 1953 and worked at International Harvester for over 36 years. He moved to Sylvan Lake in 1990.

He was an amazing man that could tinker and fix anything. He would give his time and skill to all who needed a hand.

In Sylvan Lake he was surrounded by family. He was very proud of the house he built in Sylvan and was very helpful in helping his girls with projects like fixing cars, building garages or finishing basements.

He loved curling and curled for many years in the seniors league in Sylvan Lake. He also went to many area bonspiels. He was always happy to share the story about the 8 ender he got at the over 50 bonspiel in Red Deer.

He shared his tinkering on engines with his grandchildren, all his grandkids have fond memories working with him on golf carts at Top O The Hill golf course.

Bud leaves behind his two daughters: Marilyn Sheptycki and Barbara (Douglas) Balogh. Seven grandchildren. Patrick, Matthew (Courtney), Sarah and Jason Sheptycki. Jeremy (Hailey) Balogh, Anita (Amara) Fofanah, Mitchell (Brittany) Balogh. His 10 great grandchildren will know great grandpa through the stories we will share with them.

A Private Family Service will be held in Sylvan Lake on July 24, 2021. Inurnment will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery.

Condolences

Scott Sylvester:

My condolences to Bud's family. I remember him sharpening my skates in Edmonton, many years ago :)

Amanda :

I would like express my most sincere condolences to Buds family at this time. I had the pleasure of working with bud at Bethany and so enjoyed his stories of work. He always had so much to say when you mentioned work. I very much respected him.

Condolences for the Family of Bud From:
Please accept our thoughts &
sympathies on the passing of your father, as we noted in the Edmonton
Journal. Your parents sold us your family home on Delwood Road in
1990 and we have lived there ever since, much of the house and yard
still the same. May your parents rest in blessed peace. Sincerely,
Robert & Marie Douziech

Rhonda Hamilton:

Barb and family, I am sending my sincerest thoughts and condolences to you all. I was very sad to hear that you’ve lost your Dad so soon after losing your Mom, Barb. Life is not always fair, but it will be comfort for you all to know they are reunited in Heaven. Take care and remember all of those wonderful stories I know you have.
