John passed away February 21, 2019 surrounded by his family and his forever friends, his dogs. John is survived by his wife Cyndy; daughters Carly (Dayton) Juras, Caitlyn Berry; grand daughter Scarlett McKay Juras; sister Helen Stephens; sisters-in-law Carol (Brad) Neal and Linda (Paul) Riley along with many special nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents John and Emma Berry; his brother, Peter Berry, and sister Joan Paddick. John was born in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec on November 20, 1940. Shortly after, the family moved to his grandparents' farm in Westbranch, Pictou County, Nova Scotia where he and his three siblings spent their childhood years. At a young age he headed west and eventually made his home in Red Deer, AB where he met and married his wife Cyndy (Kroker) on April 5, 1980. In the mid 80's, John and Cyndy bought an acreage north of Leslieville where they raised their family and currently reside. John was an avid outdoorsman who had a love for hunting, fishing, and camping out in the West Country. He was known for his "green thumb" and for planting and landscaping with trees throughout Alberta. John's instinctive and passionate understanding of nature allowed him to work and live his life as he wanted.
A celebration of life is to be held at the Sylvan Lake Legion Branch 212, 4916 50 Ave on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at 1 PM. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in his name to the Rocky Organization for the Rescue of Animals (ROAR) P.O. Box 2098, Stn. Main, Rocky Mountain House, AB T4T 1B5

Cyndy, you and all your girls are in our thoughts and prayers. We are so very sorry for your loss, and hope you find some small comfort in your John's new-found freedom. Peace by with you all.
Lori White:
Dear Cyndy,

I was very sorry to hear of Johns passing. He was a
wonderful person and a very talented gardener.
We had many great pig roasts and get togethers.
I remember setting up the big canvas tent and spending
time at your beautiful home. I know my parents
always enjoyed the time they spent with you and
they would also be sad to hear about John.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Best wishes and love. Take care.

Lori White
Les and Theresa Fillatre:
Dear Cyndy and family. John will be remembered with love. Helen told us of his passing. Big hugs from Nova Scotia.
Brenda K:
My first one-on-one encounter with John was over an amazing petunia he had started in an improvised greenhouse. His eyes absolutely sparkled as he showed it off. I came to know him as an innovator whose living room was the great outdoors. I saw that sparkle again in pictures of him holding his new grandbaby. Safe travels, John.
George Vickery:
Cyndy I have great memories of hunting, fishing and camping with John. Chasing sheep through Panther Mountain, fishing in the winter, pitching his humungous canvas tent that took us 1/2 a day. I am thankful for the great outdoor adventures I shared with John and may the loving memories bring you comfort, joy and strength.
