A Celebration of Jane’s life will be held at the Eckville Community Centre on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 1:30 PM.
Memorial donations in Jane’s name may be made to the Eckville Royal Canadian Legion # 156, the Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Macrae (Raper), Jane
1929-2020
On February 21, 2020 Jane Macrae passed away at the Red Deer Hospital at the age of 91 with family at the side.
Jane was born on January 2, 1929 in Willington, Durham, England to Clara and Charles Raper. Jane met Donald Macrae at a community dance and on June 9, 1951 they were married in Seaton Delaval, Northumberland, England. One year later they immigrated to Canada, moving to Eckville to join Don’s sister Jean Stopsen and her family. Jane and Don made Eckville their permanent home.
Jane was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Don in 2015, parents Clara and Charles Raper, in-laws May and Donald Macrae; brothers: Charles, James, George, John, Alan and Neville Raper; brothers-in-law: Ed Stopsen, Thomas Uddgren and Alan King; sisters-in-law: Jean Stopsen, Edna Raper, Peggy Raper and Jean Raper; nephew Donald Stopsen.
Jane will be missed and lovingly remembered by her son David (Deb) Macrae and daughter Barbara (Ken) Schooler; grandchildren: Tim (Gerri) Macrae, Kevin Macrae, Janelle Ross, Jon (Nicole Nykolaishyn) Macrae and Shane (Vicci) Schooler; great grandchildren: Harrison Coish, Jaelyn Macrae, Jetta Ross, Camden Macrae, Layney Ross, Kade Macrae and Lou Hallock; sisters: Ruth King and Margaret Uddgren; brother Clive (Eileen) Raper; sister-in-law Edna Raper; nieces: Jean (peter) Gibbons, Jennifer Stopsen and Beverly (Stuart) Reynolds and their families as well as numerous family in England and Scotland.
